Naked Restaurant @ Plaza Damas

Another lunch option at Plaza Damas.

Pretty standard stuff. Salad with set lunch.
Or soup.
Grilled beef sandwich.
Spicy tuna sphagetti.
Interesting decor. Red staircase.
Verdict. Overall OK but not outstanding.

Location : Block E-0-2 & E-1-2 Plaza Damas, Sri Hartamas

Sentul Ah Yap Charcoal Hokkien Mee Restaurant @ Rivercity

A relatively new place at Rivercity, Jalan Ipoh is a branch of the famous Sentul Ah Yap Charcoal Hokkien Mee. We've tried it a few times the food is pretty decent, but not particularly outstanding

The signature Hokkien Mee for example would not stand up to several other top Hokkien Mee places along Jalan Ipoh. Needs more lard in my opinion.
The Ying Yong - Cantonese fried mee hoon and kuey teow was also decent but not outstanding.
Pork in two styles - sweet sour and another in mayonnaise sauce. Both tasted rather weird. Hmmmm.

Besides noddles, they have rice with dishes too. Give it a try. Its located on the side of the AEON Big supermarket at Rivercity facing Jalan Kasippillay.

Menya Kamikaze @ 1 Mont Kiara Plaza

New restaurant at 1 Mont Kiara Plaza.

Simple decor. Open kitchen concept.
They specialize in ramen. It's non halal. Soup is boiled for long hours resulting in rich and deeply flavored broth.
I had the black sesame version. Really rich.
There's also a cold noodle version served with thick dipping gravy.  Nice as well.

E & O Fish Head Curry @ Taman Wahyu

Possibly the best fish head curry restaurant in North KL and certainly  our regular haunt, it E & O Kari Kepala Ikan at Taman Wahyu off Jalan Kuching.

Must try include the  fish head curry, served in a heated pot with lots of vegetables (lady's fingers, brinjal, tomatoes and green chilli). Some tau foo pok as well to soak up the thick and tasty curry.

Don't miss the fried chicken, crispy and crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. KFC doesn't come close, taste wise.

One of their signature dishes is the fried slipper lobster. The flour used to coat the bits of meat are spicy and crunchy. Very addictive.

Don't expect much in terms of vegetables. Stick with some piquant pickled vegetables (cucumber, onions, long beans and chilli). Another good bet if it's available is the sambal petai.

Give it a try if you're in the Taman Wahyu area.

S.Wine at Publika, Solaris Dutamas

It's a full pork fest at S.Wine, the non-halal cafe situated inside Ben's Independent Grocer (BIG) at Publika in Solaris Dutamas.
First up is the pork burger; juicy, thick and succulent. Accompanied by crispy fries and a side of coleslaw, it's almost perfect. Highly recommended.
The Serrano ham with melon was good.
The watermelon and longan salad was a clever mix of sweet, savory and tangy.
Spaghetti carbonara had too much sauce for our liking. It was runny even after mixing in the raw egg yolk.
The spaghetti aglio olio on the other hand was excellent, al-dente pasta with juicy mushrooms and crispy roasted pork in a light olive oil (and lard) sauce. Recommended.
The Hainanese pork chop is very popular. Quite a large serving and good for sharing. Old school tomato based sauce and lots of crispy fries on the side.
The Lemongrass Pork Chop on the other hand is served with rice, duck with salted vegetable soup and an omelet. The well marinated pork chop is great with the rice. Recommended.
The roast pork rice was served with the same duck with salted vegetable soup, which is quite nice. The roasted pork was good but not exceptional.
The rice with pork cutlets was tasty and somewhat better than the roasted pork. It came with the same soup too!

Overall, good food and good service too. They don't take reservations so go early for lunch or dinner to get a table as the limited number of tables gets filled very quickly.

If you still have place for desserts, go to the Plan B Roasters outside and have a choice of cake with the excellent coffee there.
